Rape charge: four men arrested

Thames Valley Police has arrested four men on suspicion of rape following an incident in Banbury on Friday night (6 July 2012)

Three of the men are aged 20 and from Bicester, the fourth is also aged 20 and is from Brackley. All four were bailed until 4 August.

They were arrested in connection with the rape of an 18-year-old woman in a car park near George Street just after midnight.

Det Con Ian Gibbard, investigating the incident, said: “We have arrested four men as part of this investigation and enquiries are ongoing. Anyone who was in the area and saw any suspicious activity on Thursday night or the early hours of Friday morning is asked to contact police.

“I would also like to take this opportunity to reassure residents of Banbury that incidents of this nature are very rare in Banbury and a team of detectives are working to catch the people responsible.”
