A new assistant chief constable for Northamptonshire Police has been announced.

Andy Frost will take over from Derek Talbot, who retires at the end of July after 11 years in the role.

Mr Frost began his career as a patrol officer in Daventry in 1987 and after moving to Northampton was promoted to sergeant in 1992.

In 2004 he transferred to the Bedfordshire force and has spent the past two years as commander for Luton.

Deirdre Newham, chair of the police authority, said: “I am confident in Andy we have a real asset for the people of Northamptonshire.
